This is an old revision of the document!

We are in a world where 'doing nothing' is an essential part of daily life. People have time for non-productive 'activitimes' including slow travel, afternoon naps, or mindful exercise. Neighbourhoods and site-specific experimental communities (in monasteries) function as extended families. People live together, rather than alongside each other, understanding their place in the larger planetary ecology. Their living environments are able to sustain their lifestyles that are guided by an ecological consciousness and organic rhythms. The infrastructure (material and immaterial) is open and shared. Transgenerational exchanges, mixed co-working and education spaces flourish and celebrations (of both successes and failures) have regained their value. There is much experimentation and innovation in the economic system. Unconditional basic income is widespread. Knowledge is produced, shared and embodied by experts and enthusiasts alike and is highly transdisciplinary. People work less, but more effectively, and they do things they care about. The leaders in this world have embraced holistic leadership, based on a dynamic system of values including trust, appreciation, respect, silence, collaboration, compassion, humility and egolessness. The deep cultural myths on which this world is built are those of Kairos, Eros and Epimetheus.

This scenario was developed during the futures of doing nothing workshop.
