-Augmented Urban Gardens involves the study, development use of urban or urban-fringe gardens. Gardening methods are investigated across Europe, aiming to share knowledge about diverse horticultural practices apply them to urban gardens. In addition to horticulture, mechanical digital technologies will be explored to augment the gardens, turning them into artworks venues for cultural events. The Time's Up garden is not simply a place of soil and plants, rather a collection of systems created on the artificial land of this peninsula between the Danube and the Industrial harbour. nadine's Wasteland garden is a place for eco-artistic experiments amidst the urban jungle of Schaarbeek in Brussels. Suspended beds, pumping and irrigation systems, bolted on soil retainers that give an environment for gardening. Augmented gardens looks at the ways that technologies and gardening can be brought together, the use of wasted resources and neglected corners for food and other gardening. The combination of hi tech monitoring technologies, low tech mushroom cultivation and the harbourside environment allows us to explore many possibilities for cultural exchange.+Augmented Urban Gardens involves the study, development and use of urban or urban-fringe gardens. We investigate gardening methods across Europe with the aim of sharing knowledge about diverse horticultural practices and how to apply them in urban gardens. We also explore the ways that mechanical and digital technologies can be combined to transform gardens into artworks and venues for cultural events. The combination of hi-tech monitoring technologies, low tech mushroom cultivation and the harbourside environment allows us to explore many possibilities for cultural exchange.
