Navigate to your destination using the leaves of the kompassla or 'compass rocket' (Lactuca serriola), the closest wild relative of cultivated lettuce growing throughout the temperate regions of all major continents, whose leaves grow according to a north–south axis.

Notes:

  • to do this, you may need to travel carrying a potted, portable compass rocket
  • it may take several years to navigate by this means as the compass lettuce will only be able to reorient itself to the north-south axis at its own pace of growth
  • Estimated duration: 2–5 years, depending on distance to destination
  • Estimated number of participants: 1
  • Vegetal mindfulness: tumbleweed
